Why does a person go for a medical insurance? To be safe and prepared in times of emergencies, Right? One thinks that if they have insurance then no matter what comes, they’ll be able to manage. But what if all the claims that the company makes to its customers are fake and only to entice their customers, and provide them no good? You know, this is what the scathing reality of the medical insurance companies is all about, as they are just “empty vessels” making noise.
By making such a bold and blunt statement, it is intended to expose the ugly motives of the insurance companies which make fake promises to sell their policies and then when the need actually arise, these medical insurances fall out. People have suffered at the hands of these medical insurance companies as the documents they have say something else and the tale told by the companies are totally different. One of the reasons because of which the commoners are eluded is the fact that, firstly, the documents are in such small fonts that it’s illegible as a whole and secondly, the agents that the companies hire to sell off their policies don’t explain all the minute facets of the policy in detail, thereby easily misleading the ignorant and the needy.
The culprit in this case is none other than the government who allows such companies to easily exploit the common public in the name of help and support, when the government is supposed to be for the people and to safeguard their interests. And these Insurance companies are like criminals who wander in search of their prey and easily find and attack them, owing to the loosely held law and order system of the country. Why is it that anyone can take the advantage of someone’s problem and leave them miserable? Is our government blind and numb that they can’t observe the sorrows wrinkling the faces of their countrymen?
Thus, PRAHAR feels that it’s high time that the government should come into action against such medical insurance companies, to protect the common man. The government needs to draft some stringent laws so that such companies may not try or even think of be-fooling the innocent. It can be seen that a proper narration of each and every clause of the insurance is done to the applicant and video is made of it so that the company in future can never come up with an excuse that they told the insurance applicant everything, whereas the insured person says something else. And a copy of it can be made for the company, the Court of Law and the insured person so that there is no possibility of any confusion.
Further, the government can run “Helplines” which can take the onus of explaining all the minutest details of the insurance policy to the concerned person and therefore make him aware and cautious about the intricacies of the company and their policies before purchasing them.
Further, the companies can be asked to compensate the aggrieved five times of what they are liable to, if in case the company is found guilty so as to ensure that the company doesn’t do something unethical. And the government can make a special cell to look into such frauds.
However, if still some undesired misfortune strikes one, then one should be brave enough to stand tall and straight against such an injustice to save others.
And if something like this is done then:
- It can be ensured that the people are not left vulnerable at the hands of such profit oriented companies.
- People can be secured and left free to live their lives freely and without tensions.
- Frauds by Medical Insurance companies can be checked.
- It can be shown to the people that the government is there to take care of their citizens.
